Royal Bath Hotel & Spa Bournemouth, hotel in Bournemouth

Opened on Queen Victoria's coronation day in June 1838, the Royal Bath Hotel & Spa Bournemouth was the first hotel in Bournemouth. It offers 3 hotel restaurants, a health spa and lovely sea views.

I loved the richness of history and grandness within the building and commend all the renovation works. Friendly and helpful staff. The gardens were lovely and relaxing with lots of places to sit. I had a good sea and garden view from my bedroom and the best bit was real windows opened.

FAQs about hotels in Bournemouth

Sea Air and Savoir-Faire

Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.

The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.

Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.

At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.

On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

Bournemouth is my favourite place in England to take some rest from London duties. I love absolutely everything in there; sandy beaches, landscapes, hospitality, people, pines, cliffs... the only one problem is to find a parking place during the weekends and summer holidays, but if you look around a bit, it's doable, not really at the beaches but within a mile. Actually, it's good to have a walk, so for me personally it's not an obstacle to come to Bournemouth at any time. I visit some favourite places in that area also in the winter and I always step into the water, no matter what. I would definitely recommend Bournemouth as a lovely place to relax.

Lovely buzzing seaside town with great amenities and safe beaches. Food very expensive at seaside areas, hard to go economy with kids in tow. The location is excellent, close to the pier, beach, big wheel, lower gardens, shops, food outlets, bars and entertainment. Was a great price compared to some of the other hotels. The hotel has a lot of history and was the 1st hotel built in Bournemouth and opened on the day of Queen Victoria's coronation day in June 1838. Has been classed as grade 2 listed since 1974. The spa facilities are really good and for £5 for 24 hours is really value for money. Pool is great to cool of after a hard day sightseeing.

I stay at the Lynden Court Hotel every year, this being my sixth time. The location is great, only a short walk from both the town and the beaches, there's plenty of places to go and explore, in and around Bournemouth with Poole, Dorchester, Weymouth and Christchurch on the door step. There's lovley walks along the prom from Sandbanks right along to Hengistbury. The rooms are of a good size plenty big enough for two. Tea and coffee is provided. There's a continental breakfast, which is help yourself.

Ged and Jane were very welcoming. They put Easter chocolate eggs on the bed for us, which was a really nice touch. -The room was exactly like the pictures! It was the cleanest room I've been in a bed& breakfast/hotel in the UK. The room was on the top floor, so it can be quite warm in the from time to time, but there is an air-conditioning unit! -Breakfast was lovely! -Locationwise, it's 5min walk from the Bournemouth train station. It takes something like 20-30min to walk to the city centre.

Opposite shopping and cinema and a short walk to the beach and pier. Stayed at few places in Bournemouth as visit my daughter and I would certainly stay here again. Unfortunately all hotels are expensive around the area but this was one of the cheaper options but certainly didn’t feel I was in a cheap hotel.
