Away from the adoring crowds that gather in front of the glass-encased and untouchable vision of the Mona Lisa, the Louvre is a rich treasure trove of artistic gems. Corridors run above and below ground for such a distance that it would take you over 100 years to spend just 30 seconds in front of every masterpiece here.

This museum is much bigger than I expected.
This museum is much bigger than I expected. There is so much to see here you could spend multiple days exploring it all. We got tickets for the second entry of the day, which was perfect. We were able to get up to the ropes at the Mona Lisa, did that first before all the crowds. That floor is almost impossible to get around later in the day. The 2nd floor had way less crowds and so many artifacts and art. Even the kids (12 & 14) were impressed by it all!

Don’t waste time and money eating at the sit down restaurant on the main floor. The food was overpriced and disgusting. Service was pleasant- but it was the first (and only) time a server asked if I wanted to leave a tip and asked how much of one I planning to leave. I like being able to add an amount to the paper receipt or touch screen without being asked to/amount.
My husband and I spent most of the day here and we loved the extensive display of art. I would say follow a plan to see the masterpieces you’re interested in and enjoy the other pieces in between/on the way.

The Louvre Museum was definitely a bucket list item for me and I spent around four hours exploring and I still didn’t see everything. I definitely recommend purchasing your timed entry ticket online prior to your visit. Depending on the time of year, you may still have to wait in line but it goes by quickly (though the museum may still be busy inside as well).

Buy pre paid tickets way ahead of your visit if you are in Paris on DIY basis. You cannot see the Louvre in just 1 day so if you love art & history, plan to spend 1-2 days because there is so much to see and appreciate! . If you are on a group tour then that's taken care of.

This is an extraordinary museum.
This is an extraordinary museum. I would not go without pre-booking with a guide due to crowds. We went in the summer and had to thread our way through masses of people. Our guide was excellent, took us on a 2 hour tour to see the most amazing pieces and gave background and context for what we saw.

It is amazing, but there are some very important things to know beforehand:
1. The map they provide is not very good or easy to follow.
2. Bathrooms are rare and often difficult to find.
3. There are MANY stairs, even on one "floor".
4. Apparently, in order to avoid waiting in line for hours, you need to make reservations in advance, and likely days in advance.

Prime location next to Avenue de l’Opera, from the hotel can walk to Opera Palais Garnier, Galleries Lafayette, Sephora, and even Louvre Museum if you prefer sightseeing walk along the avenue de l’opera. Friendly and Supportive receptionist and housekeeping lady, it was beyond my expectations. Clean room, nice view to BOSS boutique store, comfy bed and pillows.
The hotel is a great choice in a quiet neighborhood. The room was clean and modern, and the staff was excellent. The breakfast buffet exceeded expectations and saved time in the morning. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the Louvre museum area and the Madeline train stop, making it easy to explore the city.
I recently visited Paris alone and booked this hotel as it was offering single bedroom. The room was small enough to accommodate single person with the luggage. Bed was comfortable and breakfast was also good. Location was also not very far from the city, be it Effile tower or Louvre Museum you could reach via M6 and M1 in 30-40 minutes. Overall nice stay for a solo Traveller.
The room clean and nice. the location is great, walkable distance to the Louvre Museum, Notre Dame, has metro nearby. And the stuffs are extremely nice and helpful! Because the hotel doesn’t have elevator, they helped to carry our luggages during checkin and checkout.
What truly stood out was their exceptional service: when I accidentally left my travel documents behind, they helped me find the documents and delivered it to me in Madrid in just one day!! That’s is amazing!
Host is very responsive

This apartment is well located between the big department stores and Royal Louvre Museum. It has plenty of space, including loads of cupboards, and is very clean. It is light and airy, with a leafy outlook. It is well equipped, is serviced by a lift, and is very secure.

Go to the Louvre on a Thursday, it's a lot quieter
Go to the Louvre on a Thursday, it's a lot quieter. Don't queue up at the pyramid; use the underground entrance next to the metro. If you're under 26, don't queue for a ticket, just show your passport at the entrance to the exhibitions

Visit the Louvre on Sunday when it is free to mingle with the locals
Choose hotels and restaurants that aren't "name-branded" chains. Explore side streets. Go to mass instead of just touring Notre Dame or Sacre Coeur. Visit the Louvre on Sunday when it is free to mingle with the locals. Take the metro instead of cabs. It's cheaper and can be part of the adventure if you live in a city without a subway.

And then there is the Louvre - really too much to take in on one visit
Musee d'Orsay had an exhibition of Van Gogh's work which was amazing. I also really enjoyed Musee Rodin which has his sculptures displayed in the gardens which are worth a visit in their own right. The scent of roses was lovely. It is also great to watch the artists at work in the streets around Sacre Coeur Cathedral. The architecture of buildings in Paris is also really attractive and varied. And then there is the Louvre - really too much to take in on one visit.
